The CHEERIO* label is a heartfelt project by TV entertainer Joko Winterscheid. Together with e-commerce entrepreneur Tarek Müller and other co-founders to whom the environment is particularly important, he initiated the sock label CHEERIO*.
The aim of the label: to produce the first sock without an ecological footprint. In order for this to succeed, CHEERIO* does not offset the CO₂ balance by making payments to climate protection projects (like many companies do). No, CHEERIO* is serious about sustainability. A first step to produce the first socks without an ecological footprint: CHEERIO* only uses organic cotton with a GOTS certificate, from which stylish men's and women's socks are made in a small company in Turkey.
In addition, CHEERIO* is planting trees in an area in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania together with the German Wildlife Foundation. The mixed forest that develops there promotes biodiversity and gives many wild animals a new home. The CHEERIO* Forest also counteracts climate change: every tree planted binds at least one ton of carbon dioxide in its lifetime. The production and packaging at CHEERIO* support the overarching goal of developing the first sock without an ecological footprint. The label does not use plastic at all and only uses recycled paper to pack the socks. Sustainably watered organic cotton with a GOTS certificate is used in the production of the socks.
